BIOGRAPHY

As a candidate for State House, George Faught pledged to put real-life experience and strong family values to work for the citizens of House District 14, and he has kept his word.

A husband and father, a committed Christian, and a small businessman, the Muskogee resident said he would stand for faith, family, traditional values and common sense at the State Capitol.

A small businessman, George Faught has a wealth of real-life experience, and he knows how to serve. For over two decades, George has run his own small business. He understands the value of a dollar, and knows how to make ends meet. As owner of Clean Pro, his carpet-cleaning and disaster-restoration business, George serves families whose homes were devastated by floods and fires. He does the cleaning himself, so he knows about hard work and doing the job right. George believes state government should be run like a successful business. Each penny comes from the taxpayers and should be spent responsibly.

A loving husband and devoted father, George Faught values his faith and his family above all else. George and Becky, his wife of 25 years, have three children, Tyler, Jamison and Savannah. Like all parents, George wants the best opportunities available to his children. That's why he is working to attract businesses and jobs. George has also always been active in his church, having served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member. George demonstrates character and strong conservative values every day.

George Faught shares our traditional family values, and he will continue to fight for integrity and responsibility at the State Capitol. He believes we need leaders who will work to make sure those values are protected in every area of state government and in each new law passed. George believes it is time for a common citizen to bring common sense to government - someone who isn't a career politician looking toward another election, but someone who wants to help make Oklahoma better for future generations.

GEORGE'S STAND ON THE ISSUES

Pro-Life

  • I will continue my strong support for pro-life measures. I believe that life is a gift from God, and must be protected, beginning at conception. We must stand up for the rights of the most innocent of society, the unborn.
  • I authored legislation that would define as "abortion" a procedure where abortionists inject a chemical into the heart of a baby in utero in order to kill it and then deliver a stillborn child.
  • I debated on the House floor, and voted to ban taxpayer-funded abortions. While abortion remains legal in this country, those morally opposed to it should not be forced to help fund them.
  • When Gov. Henry vetoed the 2008 pro-life measure (SB 1878), I was the only local representative who voted for the bill and to override the veto.

Education

  • Education is one of the most vital keys to a successful future for Oklahoma. Providing a quality education for our young people will require new and innovative solutions for strengthening our schools. We must encourage high standards and achievement levels in both our students and teachers.
  • I fought for expansion of the Academic Achievement Award Program to allow more teachers to receive bonuses for helping their schools perform and improve.  This legislation directly benefited numerous Ft. Gibson teachers.
  • I voted for the School Protection Act (SB 1024). This bill curbed lawsuit abuse against teachers and school administrators who enforce discipline in the classroom, and would have made it a crime for students to falsely accuse education employees of criminal activity. The bill was supported by the Oklahoma Education Association, but was vetoed by Governor Henry.

Taxes

  • Oklahoma families work hard to make ends meet, and should keep more of the money they earn, rather than pay it to the government in taxes. When the government reduces taxes, it takes less money out of the pockets of the tax paying citizen and allows them to spend that money the way they see fit. Although I strongly believe in reducing taxes, I realize that it must be done responsibly in order to not hurt education or other essential services.

Economic Development

  • Bringing quality jobs to Oklahoma ensures a brighter future for our state. However, to attract these jobs, we must provide an educated workforce, invest in infrastructure, and enact sensible tort and workers comp reforms. Enhancing the quality of life by providing effective law enforcement, public safety, and a family friendly environment will ensure a growing, thriving economy for generations to come.

Responsible Government

  • It’s time to make our government more transparent and responsible. We can do this by: (1) streamlining state agencies to make the state government more cost effective, (2) enacting true ethics reform to eliminate the pay-for-play atmosphere, and (3) by adequately funding state needs while preventing wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars. By becoming more transparent, the public will be able to see where the State's resources are spent and hold elected officials accountable to those who have placed them in their positions.
  • I voted for passage of a major ethics reform bill (HB 2196) that prohibits "pay for play" campaign contributions from lobbyists during the legislative session. This vital reform erects a much-need barrier between campaign donations and the business of making law.
