*** PRESS RELEASE ***
Faught Receives Eagle Forum Award (Muskogee, OK) -- State Rep. George Faught (R-Muskogee) was presented the Eagle Award by Phyllis Schlafly, founder and president of Eagle Forum, at a banquet Friday night in Oklahoma City. Rep. Faught was one of two legislators to receive this recognition, which is handed out by state chapters of Eagle Forum to conservative leaders for their work and determination on conservative issues.
“I am humbled to receive this recognition from the Eagle Forum of Oklahoma, an organization that defends faith, family and freedom. To be presented this award by such a conservative champion and icon as Phyllis Schlafly is truly an honor,” said Faught. “The tireless efforts of people like Phyllis and state president Bunny Chambers has paved the way for us to advance conservative values today.”
Faught was recognized for his strong and proven record of conservatism, in particular, his measure that would have banned destructive embryonic stem-cell research in the state of Oklahoma.
During his tenure in the Oklahoma State House, Rep. Faught has authored or co-authored dozens of pieces of legislation, including pro-life and pro-family measures, Voter ID and English Official Language bills, legislation aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration, and halting fee increases by state boards and agencies without legislative approval.
A conservative candidate for Congress in Oklahoma’s 2nd Congressional District, Faught believes his experience as a small businessman and a state legislator has prepared him to address the challenges our nation faces.
“I have worked hard to preserve and protect our shared conservative values during my time in the Oklahoma State House – and I will do it in Congress as well,” said Faught. “I am honored to receive the Eagle Award and look forward to continuing to serve the people of Oklahoma.”
Staunchly pro-life, pro-business, and pro-limited government, Faught was recently endorsed by the Concerned Women PAC and the Can-Do Conservatives of America. In 2010, Faught received the top 'Limited Government' rating from Oklahomans for Sovereignty and Free Enterprise (OK-SAFE). He was honored in 2011 as ‘Representative of the Year’ by the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services.
Owner and operator of a carpet cleaning business, Faught lives in Muskogee with his wife, Becky, and is the father of three grown children. You can learn more about George and his campaign by visiting his website, and by following him on Twitter and Facebook.
