Faught Forms Advisory Council
David Burrage will serve as Chairman of Economic and Infrastructure Development Council
(Muskogee, OK) – George Faught, current state representative and candidate for U.S. Congress, today announced the formation of an Advisory Council on Economic and Infrastructure Development in Oklahoma’s 2nd Congressional District. Faught’s economic council will be chaired by David Burrage, President/CEO of FirstBank in Atoka.
“We are facing critical challenges in this time of economic stress in the District and in the country; it’s time to get serious about solving these problems, not just talk about them in short, meaningless, sound bites,” said Rep. Faught. “I put together this council to get business and community leaders together from across the District to discuss these problems and develop solutions -- outside the noise and political clutter of Washington, D.C.”
David Burrage stated, “District 2 is fortunate to have a citizen legislator such as George Faught, who is addressing first the specific needs and concerns of the economy in our home district. George has lived, worked and raised his family in the 2nd District, and it was clear that the ultimate good of District 2 was foremost in his mind as we discussed the mission of this council. I am pleased to join his team in this capacity and I will serve the citizens of the 2nd District to the best of my ability.”
The Economic Council will be composed of nine (9) task forces across the District:
1. Farming and Ranching
2. Oil and Gas
3. Infrastructure Development, Utilities and Transportation
4. Rural Healthcare
5. Small Business Development, Manufacturing and Other Industries
6. Indian Affairs
7. Community Banking
8. Education and the Licensed Professions
9. Community and Faith-Based Initiatives
Each task force will hold its own formal meetings during the 2012 Congressional campaign and will host local roundtable discussions throughout the District in order to fully understand community challenges in connection with their work.
Commenting on his selection of David Burrage, Rep. Faught stated “I am pleased to have David Burrage’s invaluable support, and his commitment to a continuing and active leadership of the Advisory Council. No other choice could have brought David’s unique set of broad-based knowledge, business experience, and relationships on both sides of the aisle and across the District.”
The Congressional Economic Council will be primarily tasked with identifying issues important to the citizens by going directly to the people of the 2nd District. The Council will formulate practical and effective free market approaches to these issues and will advise the campaign on policy positions throughout the 2012 campaign.
Staunchly pro-life, pro-business, and pro-limited government, Faught was recently endorsed by the Concerned Women PAC and the Can-Do Conservatives of America. In 2010, Faught received the top 'Limited Government' rating from Oklahomans for Sovereignty and Free Enterprise (OK-SAFE). In 2011 he was honored as ‘Representative of the Year’ by the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services, and received the 'Eagle Award' from the Oklahoma Eagle Forum (presented by Eagle Forum founder Phyllis Schlafly) in recognition of his pro-life legislative efforts.
Owner and operator of a carpet cleaning business, Faught lives in Muskogee with his wife, Becky, and is the father of three grown children. You can learn more about George and his campaign by visiting his website, and by following him on Twitter and Facebook.
