Key Grassroots Activists Join Faught Campaign
Muskogee, OK -- George Faught, candidate for Congress in Oklahoma’s 2nd District, today announced the appointment of Holly Gerard as his campaign’s Strategic Projects Director. Gerard recently stepped down as Vice-Chair of the 2nd District GOP in order to support Faught and other candidates directly in the primary.
Gerard is best known for her organizational skills in building the Republican presence in the southeastern part of the state and for managing the successful 2010 campaign of Josh Brecheen, the first Republican state senator ever to represent his portion of “Little Dixie”. In recognition of her work, Gerard received the Oklahoma Republican Party ‘Rising Star’ Award in 2011.
Faught also recently announced the strong support of David Burrage, who will lead Faught’s comprehensive economic advisory council. This council will be tasked with identifying and prioritizing strategies to revitalize the entire 2nd District’s economy, based on free-market principles.
Burrage, President and CEO of FirstBank, is a knowledgeable, conservative businessman experienced in the banking, real estate, transportation and healthcare industries in the region. He also serves on the Oklahoma Transportation Commission and was a past member of the Banking Commission. He brings a wealth of practical experience as well as extensive contacts with key leaders on both sides of the aisle and in business communities throughout the region.
In making her announcement to join Faught’s team, Gerard commented on her motivation to volunteer her time and efforts publicly for George Faught.
“George Faught is the only candidate in this race who has remained true to District 2, investing in our communities by living, raising his family, and operating his business here. He has worked tirelessly as a citizen legislator to improve the district he represents, and models every day the Christian beliefs and principles that guide him.”
“He sets himself apart from the other candidates in this race in that he is a seasoned and proven conservative, has experience as a citizen legislator and small businessman, and has the knowledge and maturity to make the right decisions in this crucial time in our nation’s history,” she said.
“With a great candidate like George Faught, I couldn’t just sit on the bench. He has served eastern Oklahoma well, and I am proud to stand with many others in supporting his candidacy for Congress,” said Gerard.
Staunchly pro-life, pro-business, and pro-limited government, Faught was recently endorsed by the Concerned Women PAC, Eagle Forum and the Can-Do Conservatives of America. In 2010, Faught received the top 'Limited Government' rating from Oklahomans for Sovereignty and Free Enterprise (OK-SAFE). In 2011 he was honored as ‘Representative of the Year’ by the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services, and received the 'Eagle Award' from the Oklahoma Eagle Forum (presented by Eagle Forum founder Phyllis Schlafly) in recognition of his pro-life legislative efforts. He was also given the 'Patriot of the Second Amendment' award by the Oklahoma 2nd Amendment Association.
Longtime owner and operator of a successful carpet cleaning business, Faught lives in Muskogee with his wife, Becky, and is the father of three grown children. You can learn more about George and his campaign by visiting his website, and by following him on Twitter and Facebook.
